Dr. Adam Klein, Founder, Media Leader llc
Adam founded and runs the leadership & innovation company Media Leader llc, through which he is committed to providing the complete resources required in preparing and supporting the next generation of business leaders to create a sustainable competitive advantage through building constant innovation companies. Additionally, he teaches graduate journalism students to understand and embrace the evolving digital media business realities at Columbia University (GSJ). Throughout his career, Adam has leveraged a combination of practical senior Executive leadership responsibilities, Strategy development analytical rigor, and Academic discipline to provide insights and pragmatic actions for effectively leading businesses through constant innovation to drive sustainable competitive advantage and growth. For the past 20 years Adam has particularly applied this expertise within the rapidly transforming media industry sector confronted by the relentless advances in digital technology, consumer adaption and business model collapse -affecting both the ‘established’ content-rich and the emergent ‘technology led’ media companies. He believes that constant innovation of products and organizational capabilities is the future of successful competitiveness. Alistair C. Mitchell, Vice President, Multimedia Integration, Research In Motion Limited
With fifteen years senior level experience in the broadcasting and digital media sectors, Alistair Mitchell is Vice-President, Multimedia Integration for Research In Motion Limited. Focused on the continual development of the BlackBerry media experience, Mr. Mitchell builds upon his experience founding and developing one of North America’s first licensed digital music businesses, Puretracks. During his nine years as CEO for Puretracks, Mr. Mitchell led the organization through successive years of rapid growth, and ultimately its sale.

Ashley J. Swartz, Senior Vice President of Digitas
Ashley J. Swartz is the Senior Vice President of Digitas in New York and has global responsibility for Samsung.com. Ashley has a career that has included manufacturing, entrepreneurial start-ups and new media revenue hunting roles in various types of agencies. Prior to joining Digitas, she completed an assignment as interim CEO of a boutique London based transmedia shop called Ag8, launching an open media franchise for Ridley and Tony Scott.

Bonnie Fuller, President and Editor-in-Chief of HollywoodLife.com
Media executive and magazine innovator Bonnie Fuller is Presideant and Editor-in-Chief of HollywoodLife.com, an online celebrity and entertainment site. With over two decades of holding editor-in-chief positions for a variety of print publications, Fuller has entered the world of digital publishing to once again change the way young women consume celebrity and style news. Prior to HollywoodLife.com, Fuller was executive vice president and chief editorial director of American Media, Inc. (AMI), where she was charged with overseeing AMI’s 16 weekly, bi-weekly and monthly magazines, including Star Magazine, Shape, Men’s Fitness, Natural Health, Country Weekly and Fit Pregnancy, among others. She has also served as the editor-in-chief of Us Weekly, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, YM, Flair and Marie Clair which she conceived and launched for the US market.

David Kruis, President and CEO of Metranome
David Kruis is President and CEO of Metranome, an industry leader in creating rich media applications for the mobile market. Metranome’s platform enables multiple service models including downloadable media, video-on-demand, subscriptions, sponsored, and advertising supported content. Before co-founding Metranome, David was Entrepreneur-In-Residence at Tech Capital Partners, an early stage Venture Capital firm based out of Waterloo, Ontario. David spent the better part of a decade in expanding product management and marketing roles at Research In Motion. While at RIM he defined and led the development of the BlackBerry solution for ISPs and mobile operators, driving the expansion of BlackBerry into the global market. As RIM’s Director of Retail Product Planning, David defined the overall BlackBerry solution for the consumer and small office/home office markets.

Jeff Gomez, CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment
Jeff Gomez is an expert at transmedia storytelling, incubating new entertainment properties, strategic planning and production for cross-platform implementation. As CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment, an animation and live-action feature film production company and leading creator of highly successful fictional worlds, Jeff transforms intellectual properties into highly successful transmedia franchises. Jeff has worked on such blockbuster universes as Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, Prince of Persia and Tron, Microsoft’s Halo, James Cameron’s Avatar, Hasbro’s Transformers, Mattel’s Hot Wheels and Coca-Cola’s Happiness Factory.

Jeremy Caplan, Journalist, JeremyCaplan.com
Time Magazine contributor Jeremy Caplan writes high-impact stories about business and technology, covering giants Google, Apple and Yahoo and smaller tech firms like Farecast, Zillow and 37 Signals. He also covers cultural trends, writing popular stories on subjects ranging from carrotmobs and cereal cafes to mini-lit and life-hacking. Caplan is a visiting professor at the City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism. In 2008-09 Caplan served as the Wiegers Fellow at the Columbia Business School, where he earned his MBA. In 2007 he was selected as a Knight-Bagehot Fellow at the Columbia Journalism School. In the years before he joined Time, Caplan worked for George Plimpton at the Paris Review, reported on tech for Newsweek, and wrote a monthly tech column for Yahoo! Internet Life. An expert on simplifying complex technology tools, Caplan has taught at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, Marymount Manhattan, St. John’s University, Post University, and Hunter College on subjects ranging from writing and reporting to new media and interactive journalism. He has also worked on courses at Columbia Business School and Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism. Caplan has appeared as an expert on CNN, CNBC, Fox and other networks and served as a featured speaker at conferences of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, the South Asian Journalists Association, the Association of Independent Information Professionals, and the National Writers Workshop. He also teaches and tutors regularly on a volunteer basis for HarlemLive, Principal for a Day, and other youth programs.

Mathieu Ferland, Senior Producer, Cross Media Group, Ubisoft
Mathieu Ferland joined Ubisoft Montreal in 1997, and he’s currently the senior producer of Ubisoft’s Cross Media Group. Ferland is focused on defining cross media and convergence strategies for Ubisoft’s intellectual properties. He’s been influential in leveraging Ubisoft’s video game IPs into new entertainment mediums, including expanding Ubisoft’s blockbuster video game franchise Assassin’s Creed into non-gaming consumer products, such as short films, novels and comic books. Prior to being the senior producer of Ubisoft’s Cross Media Group, Ferland held a leading role in the development of Tom Clancy games, including the creation of the highly acclaimed Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. Ferland has produced an extensive list of video games, including multi-million selling Tom Clancy games: Splinter Cell Double Agent, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six Raven Shield, Rainbow Six Rogue Spear: Black Thorn.

Michael Scissons, President and CEO of Syncapse
Michael Scissons has owned various ventures in both the online and promotional marketing realms and has worked with the nation’s top companies in the interactive, media, and advertising fields. In Michael’s previous role, he was responsible for leading Canadian sales for Facebook media with their agency partner. Earlier assignments included consulting and development for top-brands such as TD Canada Trust, Sony Playstation, Virgin Mobile, Labatt and Alliance Atlantis, among countless others. Michael has been showcased for his marketing insight on Report on Business Television, Young Money Magazine, Marketing Magazine, Globe & Mail, CBC – Made in Canada, and the Toronto Star among others. Michael possesses a wealth of experience working with the country’s largest advertisers and their online media platforms and brings this compounded knowledge to his keynote events across North America.

Petri Martikainen, CEO – MultiTouch Ltd.
As CEO of MultiTouch, Ltd., Petri Martikainen is responsible for overall strategy, customer relationships and building and maintaining MultiTouch’s international presence in the digital signage and large multitouch screen markets. Prior to joining Multitouch, Petri worked for over 20 years as a senior executive and co-founder with a number of ICT, media and design companies including Sofia Digital, TJ Group and DataUnit Consulting. He has been involved in a number of venture capital financing rounds, arranged an MBO deal and company merger, and completed his first successful exit in 1996.
Petri is an experienced high tech sales and international business executive. During his career, he has developed valuable expertise in internationalization of technology start-ups, key account management, international sales and strategy. Petri holds an MSc degree from the Helsinki University of Technology, and has worked for several years in the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT) as research manager.

Roger Keating, Senior Vice President, Hearst Television
Roger Keating runs the digital media effort for Hearst Television. His scope includes Hearst Television’s station web sites, mobile television and interactive TV. He came to Hearst Television with a broad background in various sectors of the media industry. Mr. Keating has run large cable TV operations at Comcast and more recently at Time Warner, where he presided over the integration of the Adelphia acquisition in the Los Angeles Region. He ran the voice services business at AOL, and also ran the AOL Health and AOL Travel verticals. He led the formation of Comcast’s Internet division in the mid 90′s and oversaw the development of their high speed data business. And he was founder/CEO of a dot com in 1998 named “Zatso” that worked with local TV broadcasters to offer streaming video-based “personalized newscasts.” Keating began his career after graduating from Notre Dame with an Industrial Engineering degree as an efficiency expert, working in factories and distribution facilities. After obtaining an MBA from Stanford, Mr. Keating worked as a strategy consultant at Mercer Management Consulting in disparate industries ranging from jet fighters to bakeries.

Sam Cox, Chief Executive Officer – Milabra
Sam Cox is an entrepreneur with multinational startup experience, as well as experience in Venture Capital investing. He previously worked at The Loughlan Group for two and a half years investing in technology and media ventures with internal capital, and providing strategic consulting to seed and venture stage companies. He founded a successful design & software firm in Canada and has consulted for firms in the UK, China, the United States and Canada. He graduated with his MBA from Cass Business School in London, UK with a degree in strategy and completed his undergraduate degree in Art History, Chinese Language and Economics at Queen’s University in Canada. He is an avid sportsman and competes both nationally and internationally in both competitive sailing and triathlon.
